Don't do it! Follow the rules! Those signs are up there for something. Something may appear solid, but it is really undermined. How many times have I learned this lesson in real life? I really need to heed advice. The ranger later told me that some of these ledges appear sturdy but really aren't and can give way. And the way down is real far down, I may add.
