Walking around Crane's Roost

Walking around Crane's Roost is not exactly the same as it was say 5 years ago. It has always been a very pleasant place to walk. The canned music is still there as well as the benches and huge old oak trees. The difference is the growth around the Roost.

Now it is a bit more sophisticated since they built up the area behind the theatres, namely Uptown Altamonte. That area is just expanding more and more. You can see a little bit of the new expansion behind the beautiful landscaping in the picture. It is definitely becoming a downtown area, except that the price tag to live there is quite high. It's not surprising that the condos in the area are pricey. There are stores, theatres, restaurants, a mile walking lake, and the mall, all of which are located at walking distance.

It seems that any time of the day is a good time to be there. Today I met up with a friend and we had great hamburgers at Five Guys Hamburgers, and then found a place to park behind the mall since they had part of the road closed off for a Beer Fest on the street in front of what was once Gina's. There was a refreshingly cool breeze crossing the lake, as well as families with little children with bread in hand to feed the fish, turtles, and ducks. It was just fun seeing all of this going on, getting some exercise, and fresh air. The live band playing oldies but goodies didn't hurt either.
