Wadmalaw's First Gullah Festival 2010 Post 2

This took place on the first week of May, last year. As you can see in the pictures the local artisans displayed their handmade quilts in the airconditioned community center. This is where we could go to flee the heat, which wasn't oppressive since the center is surrounded by many old oak trees.

You can see the children performing their skit while below you can see Miss Roberta singing her moving Spirituals.

Finally, you can see me surrounded by all my friends as we are about to leave, truly joyful as we all had a lovely time immersed in Gullah hospitality and culture.
