Teaching about the Holocaust

Soon, my students and I will be reading, Eli Wiesel's memoir, Night, which is a his personal account of what happened to him, his father and many other Jewish people during their captivity in a Nazi concentration camp. In order to make this story relevant in our day of modern technology, I have gone to various seminars to gather more insight into those devastating times.

Just last night I attended an informative seminar on a great resource called Centropa.org. The people behind this website are helping to preserve many artifacts related to the Holocaust and to use these items and pictures, but most importantly, the eye witness accounts and interviews to retell the world the stories. If you go to Centropa.org you can see moving film narratives of real life stories from eye witnesses who went through the Holocaust and in some way managed to escape its horrors.

Really worthy perusing.
