El Piragüero

El Piragüero is the typical Puerto Rican snow cone maker. They start off with this huge block of ice, paper cone cups, coffee cup stirrers used as straws and a dozen or more natural sugary juice syrups, and spend the day scrapping that ice and making people happy. What a way to make a living! People come in droves or alone to get a piragüa de tamarido, limon, melao, o frambuesa... or whatever flavor he or she desires from el piraero. You can find them all over Puerto Rico, but especially in Old San Juan. So when you're seeing the town, stop and get a piragüa; you won't regret it!
