Extravagant Love

My daughter Rosita came to spend a whole weekend with me! Just with me to have a mother-daughter weekend, and it was wonderful. Just fabulous. We went to Daytona Beach, Winter Park's Park Avenue and visited the sights and stores, but the last place we went was Mt. Dora. We had fun going and being there. The ride on 441 was as fun as could be and we bought fruit after scouting for orange trees laden with fruit going to waste, but we left the idea of jumping out of the car to retrieve it only as a last resort if we couldn't find a fruit stand. Fortunately for us we did, right there in Zellwood. About the nicest fruitstand we could find. The owner gave us free samples of the sweetest strawberries from Plant City, ruby red oranges and then gave us a free taste of fresh boiled peanuts to which Rosita to my surprise approved!! Yay.

After that we continued to Mt.Dora, natuarally going into town through the side entrance before Route 46, and passing by Mt. Zion's Methodist? Church. Passed the Catholic Church, the American Legion, and beautiful trees and peaceful meadows. Then we passed When Pigs Fly, which is closed now, Ryan's End, which is being renovated, hopefully to be reopened by a new administration, and onto downtown on the left. We parked near the public parking near where the carriage rides park and then went to Windsor Rose Tea Room, where we each ate a lovely meal. I a Chicken and Leek Pie and Rosita a Tomato and Bacon Quiche, of which we both heartily approved. Of course, being the tea snobs that we are, we both had hot tea, mine in a bag and hers loose, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She is the bigger snob when it comes to teas (this is meant as a compliment), which I attest to, hands down. I think she has a Masters of Science in TEA. We ended our meal with a shared Chocolate Raspberry Cake, which was delicious. We walked off all our calories and then drove back into town so she could catch her plane. What a weekend! It was wonderful and I know we need to do it every year. Don't you think?
